Amps you sold but should have kept

Well an update. I found a Peavey just like I had back in 1979, except this has BlackWidow speakers. At the time, there was not a BW model at the store I bought my original one from. This was made in 1979. 120 Watts. I feel for the guy who prepped this for shipping. All 90 lbs of it. Took it to a Peavey tech and asked him to go through it end to end. Everything was original so he replaced some components, tested every connection, cleaned everything up, etc. He commented that there was a niche market for them now. And the day I went to pick it, it was sitting on the floor with other equipment and a guy walked in, did a u-turn and asked if it was for sale.
It might not be the perfect sound, but there is something about these I just like.

There has been a handful (Emplexador, 5150-II, '78 JMP, Buddy Guy signature 5F6) but the one I miss the most is the Mission Amps Tweedy Deluxe 5E3 kit that was my first amp build. I have all the other amps I've built, but I let this one go in a weak moment and still regret it. It's still out there and I could maybe track it down, but I might just build another.

I've never been a regularly gigging player, so amps have not been as important to me as they otherwise would have, but...I do have one regret in this area. I had a Laney VC-30 210 that my American Strat used to sound soooo freaking great through. I definitely heard that wonderful "sparkle" that I've heard described by some guitarists. Both the Laney and the Strat are gone, and I regret those two sales more than any.

One amp that I wish I had kept was a '70s Marshall 2104 JMP 50 2x12 combo. I was a huge Scott Gorham (Thin Lizzy) fan and bought it to try to emulate his "Live and Dangerous" tones. I had (and have had since and before this amp) Marshall 50 and 100 Watt valve heads with 4x12 cabs but I like the way the 2x12 combo looked in the house, as a piece of furniture. Back in the day (in the UK) this type of amp was just a bread and butter working type of amp, nothing special and easy to replace should you fancy a change, but now I can't afford one! I'm sure that when I bought the amp I paid about £100 for it. The pic is just a googled thing as I don't have any pictures of mine.

2. One, as above, I found and bought back!!
The first is at least at a buddy's I sold it to that I still play with. It wouldn't fit in my car so sold it to fund my new 1987 Silver Jubilee 2x12 combo.
It was a white 1983 Cdn Marshall 2203 with matching G12-65 cab. Sigh... overkill by far but glorious and one I should have kept.

Then I traded the mentioned Jubilee 2x12. Dumb dumb. Found it locally a few years later and promptly bought it back. Not like I really needed the room or the money...
Glad I have it.

Amps I should have kept? My very first amp -- a brand spanking new Ampeg VT-40, which I bought in the summer of '72. Unfortunately, some thieves had other plans for it.

Too many to count, but I have owned many BF Fender amps that were in good condition and sounded great (Super Reverbs, Twin Reverbs, Vibrolux Reverbs, Deluxe Reverbs, and a Princeton Reverb). I even owned a great sounding 1962 Fender Vibrolux.

I’ve also owned many vintage Marshals that I should have kept. The first one that comes to mind, was a rare and absolutely mint condition and original 1976 Marshall JMP Model 2100, 50 watt Lead/Bass combo. This was supposedly a special order amp. Just a great sounding amp.

I also owned a 1969 Marshall Popular combo with original 2x10 Celestion speakers. It was converted to a 18 watt (Model 1958) amp using vintage spec components.

I had a stock 1969 10 watt "popular" 2x10". I don't miss it. Many are easily converted to 20 watt. Changing to 18 watt needs too much work and different transformers for the tube rect of the 18.
