The truth will set you free.... doesn't make you cool, doesn't make you one of the boys, certainly won't make you richer than your wildest dreams...but it will set you free.

Personally, and I stress that, I've seen enough bubbles being blown here to last some not inconsiderable time.

I rather enjoy sleeping at night.... my humble participation in this thread is at an end.

I love guitars; NOT these acrobatics.

Vive la Revolution.

I've noticed that it's been said that this guitar shouldn't be back in circulation!.....

There is nothing wrong with the guitar being in circulation because there is NOTHING wrong with the guitar! The only thing wrong was who the guitar was associated with, there was a ridiculous letter, an even more ridiculous photograph both attached to an untrue story, why any of this was linked to the guitar is beyond me and it was totally needless!

I've restored vintage guitars for over 25 years, worked on over 4000 had the good fortune to take them all apart and study them along with all the factory tooling marks and procedures (a lot of these are quite crude),
I don't operate on myth and legend, neither do factories, getting the product out the door was and still is the main thing. They weren't all made out of the best woods by fine craftsmen, the majority were made of good but cheap wood by good but cheap labour that is what makes them the great guitars they are today!

This 1960 Gibson Explorer is one of them, I've stood by it for 10 years, was there the day it was bought, had it apart various times, compared it to some famous Explorers (in person) which I am very grateful for (Thank You!) and have never been able to find anything wrong with it (apart from the 2 changed jack plate screws) or anything to suggest that it wasn't made in the Gibson factory and is exactly what it is supposed to be! a 1960 Gibson Explorer. If I had ever found anything wrong with it or anything suspicious I would gladly say so! I haven't, it is a fine rare guitar!

There have been some other great and positive guitar guys who have checked it out too and believe in it!........... There have been a couple of negative dudes, one old guy in Tennessee who kept changing his mind and got a "tap on the shoulder"?......(some soap would have helped) But we won't go into that.... Sod them anyhow!

It is a Great and Rare guitar! Whoever ends up with it will have a fine instrument that ROCKS!!!

I thought that was the 'skill associated with the act of ironing'?

Ok, now that the dog has had breakfast, I'd like to ask a favor. Could someone fill those of us on the fringe in with the (I assume) sordid backstory on this particular guitar? You can't know the game if you don't know the players.

Also, I would just like to reiterate: Clive Brown is one classy dude.

Isn't there a way Gibson themselves could certify it?

Doesn't mean I think the guitar is real, but I do agree that if you now own the guitar then what I think doesn't mean shit.

You haven't called the "kid" yet.

The guitar has been discussed here before:

Thanks for your courtesy and time in private Big Urn, but too much piss in the well on this one for my delicate palette.

My last expression on this.
