This is the guitar that has, shall we say, ahem, "history".

Ex Music Ground, then a European player/collector.....then subject to legal action, then sold to Graham Platts, Clive Brown's partner in Dwight. It was at Arlington and then consigned for sale at Gruhn's for $500k before George got a tap on the shoulder and it was promptly returned to sender.

Having a renowned faker and the joint owner as authenticators will doubtless instil further confidence.

It's gone from being sold as a fake by the previous owner (for fake money).........all the way up to $750k......in less than a year.

There's more to its sordid history, but discretion dictates................

I truly have no idea who it is. It's the only question I can think of asking right now. :jim

Hey All,
Well, well, well! To start on a good note. We all had a great time at the Bad Co. & Joe & Waddy Show here in San Diego...Killer show!!! Howard, thanks again...! Ok, first an foremost if you want to know, being from Blighty and not knowing. Go to the obituaries in Orange County, California about 2 or 3 week ago and look for the lovely and talented " Kandye Kane ".... That's the name I choose for my new ride as it just seemed right to me as she was certainly an "original" and multi talented. Please, if anyone would like a complete portfolio on "Kandye Kane", please let me know. Zillions of provenance, zillions of photos taken professionally. Zillions of exact measurements compared to one of the most recognized Korinas out there...and yes, spot on. Email me or call for the complete portfolio and let's have some bloody fun... Like I told my good mate Richard who called me at 1:30am in the morning an woke my arse up in the middle of the bloody night "it's only a guitar Richard, we're not having a bloody baby mate!" LOL...!! so, let's all play nice and have some fun. Sir Charles Esq., thanks for you old school advice. You know where I'm from and how far I have traveled...

Adios amigos,

Who is Kandye Kane?

She was a local (San Diego area) musician who recently died of cancer. The seller is "The Big Hern" a.k.a. Gary Hernandez.

What do you wanna bet that it doesn't come with the original case?

If I play my cards right, and ask politely, can we see some pictures on this thread, and maybe a precis of the story? Doesn't have to be zillions worth of either.

Much obliged.

Waaaadaaa! Youse guys speak in more code than I could dream up in a fortnight of imbibing bitterroot extract mixed with road-possum squeezins! Am I to take it that said fiddle is of as questionable build (and probably hiding as much) as my Unca Havrunty's wall in the third bedroom? It's as genuine as Auntie Beebs Jagacadicoln? Damn! I be all confused. Who do I write the check to? I gots checks I must have money. With Bebop A Louey for a cousin I gots no problem collectin'.

Hey Gang,
Thanks for the props mi amigos...!!! Again, if anyone wants to see the whole enchilada you can receive a complete portfolio for the asking for the price of shipping. it's pretty dynamic...!!! Also, if you would like to personally speak with me, just call my cell at 619-988-9777. As I don't do well at all with "computer courage" if you know what I mean. I've been trying to get this bloody mate to call for two days to no avail. I get it...!!! Email will do if one must: gary@guitarswest.net

Would be a slightly unfair bet seeing as I've known this guitar for ten years. No one is gonna get to say 'nice case' on this thread :rofl

No need for snarkiness in this thread. If you want to discuss the guitar...fine. Otherwise, keep your comments to yourself.:jim

Even if you go by the assumption the guitar is "real," I don't see how you can put $750K on a guitar with the wrong case and pickguard, which are easily the two most valuable parts.

Ooof.

First off , hey Gary, how tricks? We used to see you a lot at the UK vintage shows in the 90's. Me and Will Deegan often stood together at those shows. You once bought a pinstripe 4x12 from us, Newcastle I think. Paid cash, but all £50's !!! They still make me twitch.

Rich, is this the guitar that was around for quite sometime over here, belonged to a guy with a penchant for knitwear?

The Music Ground association does this guitar no good at all does it?

Gary, not wishing to offend, but having Max Baranet stated as provenance in your auction is a huge red flag to me. Not that I am in any position to drop cash on a Korina Explorer.

I hope this all turns out well, but I think it might get a bit messy.

Regards to all,
Rob.
