Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
Here's a little game - post the best R9 actually for sale that that you could get for Goldie or Sandy money? Say you couldn't find a realistic CC#3 or 4 that floated your boat but had the moolah to drop on a top-spec R9 for a special show that weekend?
(Disclaimer:- I know that Goldie's and...
I'm looking for someone that can make a couple of guards for me, I'm sure I've seen guys that do this on EBay. Preferebly UK or EU, but stateside as well in case I'm desperate.
Thanks for any pointers!
Gibson just keeps on coming up with new ideas, or rather colours, for their Historics. I found the one in this link quite intriguing (N.B. £4,349 = $6,737!)

At least we're getting better tops in the UK than we have been used...
Firstly, the Tom Wittrock Guitar Collector DVD (a must have for your collection, a real slice of vintage guitar porn, I just wish there could be a series of these. Kudos to Tom!).
And a couple of Tony Bacon books, "Million Dollar Les Paul", and "The Ultimate Guitar Book". Thanks for the...
Re. the headstock on these models - how long did they retain the "Les Paul" silkscreen? I assumed the Juniors transitioned to the pineapple/flower pot inlay at some point, like the Standards, or did they? I can't remember and it's annoying me! Thanks
NB Here's a '61 example with the Les Paul...
I thought it might be an idea to have a thread showcasing all the Collector's Choice guitars here, from the Melvyn Franks (Gary Moore), through the Goldies, the Donnas (eventually/hopefully), and beyond .....
And it would save me (and you guys) hopping from thread to thread to see and compare...
I'd recommend that all you "historicheads" sign up to the Gibson Custom page on Facebook. They are regularly showing off "one-off" or limited edition models, such as the following:-
1956 Heather Polymist:-
And even some less conventional stuff like a 1957 one pickup Custom:-
And some...
..... in Summer 2011 issue of Guitarist magazine. Worth a read, talks about stepping in for Sambora, favourite guitars demo'ed for Fretted Americana, Evil Robot amps etc.
I don't know what the availability of the magazine is like in the States, it you guys can't get a hold of it easily let me...
Just looking for opinions as to how the finishing methods that Gibson used during this period made these guitars stand out in many people's eyes, or was it just the type and quality of maple sourced for the tops?
What I'm trying to say is, I've heard lots of talk about "double staining" and...
Oooof, that's a beauty! Yeah, lots of love for Rickenbackers here - thanks in no small part to the Byrds for instance and more recently (esp. for us Brits) this guy:-

OK guys, if you've seen the June thread then you'll know what this is about. If you've purchased a new Historic Les Paul during July or intend to during August, then post a couple of pics of it here with a brief description of the model.
At the end of August, forum members will then be invited...
Since there's been a few complaints about the lack of new discussion lately, here's my half baked idea for a new regular thread. The clue is in the title, if you have bought a new Historic this month then post it here and hopefully we can agree on a winner each month, who will then receive a...
