Historic of the Month - June 2011

Since there's been a few complaints about the lack of new discussion lately, here's my half baked idea for a new regular thread. The clue is in the title, if you have bought a new Historic this month then post it here and hopefully we can agree on a winner each month, who will then receive a pretzel, or a prize of equal value.

I'm hoping Todd68 will kick proceedings off with his new Duane Allman Burst lightly figured R8. And maybe Mike Slub could contribute his gorgeous Pelham Blue R7. That's two I can think of straight away, both are pretty unique and would be ideal for this thread.

This will either be an awesome thread or a complete flop - it's up to you guys! :salude Bring 'em on!

Edit:- Maybe we could throw this open to newly completed Historic Makeovers or equivalent by the likes of Florian Jager - any thoughts?

You can be my second on the award committee - assuming you haven't got an entry in that particular month! I'd be happy for it to be a democratic process.

I just thought it would be a good thread to pull together a particular month's NGD's - everyone would still have their own individual NGD thread of course, but this thread would be more concise with participants posting perhaps just one money shot of their new Historic with a brief description - spec, weight, etc.

It would be purely good fun, not a "who's got the best guitar" thing. As a for instance, let's say Mike Slub might win this month purely because of the neatness of his Pelham Blue R7, not because it's got a monster flame top. I don't envisage it being a monster flametop contest at all.

Wow, I thought this was going to be a complete flop but we've got some great runners and riders so far.

My initial idea was that to qualify for a "Historic of the Month" or HOTM Award, the guitar would ideally be purchased during that particular month. But since this is the first month and we're already halfway through, we'll let that requirement slip for the time being and accept any recent purchases.

You can tell I didn't give this much thought, I think I just thought it would be the the Historic equivalent of Playboy's Playmate of the Month! A kind of summary of NGD's for that month.

But we'll see how it develops - if it flops, it flops (kinda like those bunny ears). And again it's just a piece of fun Historic eye candy and not a pissing contest. Also it's a cool way of tracking what everyone is buying and a source of ideas for those on the prowl for a new purchase. Keep 'em coming! :salude

This one's a 2011 WW Spec R9 in Iced Tea Burst. 8.34 lbs. EDIT: Shipped and received in May, so not eligible for June GOM. Thought you guys might like to see it anyway

Well, I was ahead of June by a few days, but since I'm unlikely to have another NGD any time soon I'll throw in my '07 Darkburst. I'd guess it to be right around 9 lbs and a treat to play.
