• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

OK guys, if you've seen the June thread then you'll know what this is about. If you've purchased a new Historic Les Paul during July or intend to during August, then post a couple of pics of it here with a brief description of the model.

At the end of August, forum members will then be invited to vote for their favourite guitar from those submitted.

In order to make things fair whilst keeping things simple, there will be two categories of guitars to vote for:-

1. Flame tops
2. Plain tops (including solid colours, Goldtops, Customs etc.)

Please note - this is not a popularity contest, or about who has the best guitar. It's about taking all the cool new stuff (including new models and features etc.) from the NGD threads and showcasing it here in one thread. The voting part is really just to provide a participation element to the thread and to provoke discussion about this new stuff.

Edit:- Historic Makeovers or other custom refinishes are welcome as long as they are received during July/August 2011.

Very nice Mike but I think Todd won this round... that DA is a beautiful guitar (of course, yours are very nice too).

Wow, off to a good start with 3 beauties - this ain't going to be any easier than it was last time. Thanks Mike and Sandman.

So far, the quilt tops outnumber the flametops! Does anyone know if Gibson have increased quilt top production lately, or are we just lucky to get two fine ones come along at once?

Great to see new finishes like the DaPra Caramel Burst and the Scotchburst looks awesome as well, especially on a quilt top.

I'll add mine to the contest: Gibson calls it dirty lemon, but we've realized it's probably something else :rolleyes Who cares!? :rofl
In this pics it looks more orange-ish than it actually is, probably due to lights exposure or sun.

Glad you're doing this. Good, clean fun. Truth is, who cares who wins. I just like seeing all the beauty in one spot. Remember when I said I'd be out this month .... well, I will be out next month for sure! Seriously, I'm broke now. Great start guys. Okay, I'm in - #29 VOS Bloomfield 2009.

Thanks guys - resha that's an awesome wall-to-wall flametop in a sweet tangerine kinda unburst finish. Really cool.

And Todd, you know I love that Bloomie run as well, your one sounds like a keeper (until the next one comes around!) (j/k).

Here we go again! Lots of serious figure in this session. Looking great guys!

I'm digging those "not quite lemon" bursts lately. I've started referring to them as "Arnold Palmers" - half lemon, half iced tea.

Thanks again, Classic71, for doing the legwork and making this happen.

Wow soulbrojcs, that's a beauty. Did you purchase her recently?

At this rate we are really going to eclipse the June thread. It's great having all these guitars in one thread, it's basically a showcase of what is available to a purchaser of a Historic Les Paul.

Oh, and for those of you who don't know Top Gun, he has a habit of acquiring the most amazing guitars - and he's come through in style YET again with that Siberian Tiger! He came within an inch of winning the June vote with a jaw dropping Billy Gibbons model with one of the finest tops from that run. Thanks for participating again TG.

I'm telling you now - It's going to be next to impossible to choose a favourite from this crop of stunning models! :wow

This is cool, but if we narrow it down to guitars bought within the last month or so, maybe it could be slim pickin's! so...Bought a couple of months ago from Mark's Guitar Loft. Becoming my favorite out of the 5 Historics I own. Love this top, but would love it more in Cherry nitro!

I hear what you're saying, but in the June thread (1 month) we had at least a dozen top notch guitars. This thread will cover a longer (2 month) period and results so far are promising. I was willing to relax the rules for the June thread but for this thread it will be strictly guitars bought during July/August 2011. I'm sorry if this excludes your guitar, it really does look amazing.

Hey Classic71. no, I've had this one for quite a while now. when I bought it (used) it was almost in mint condition. all those wear marks on the fingerboard are mine! ;-)
