• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I'd recommend that all you "historicheads" sign up to the Gibson Custom page on Facebook. They are regularly showing off "one-off" or limited edition models, such as the following:-

1956 Heather Polymist:-

And even some less conventional stuff like a 1957 one pickup Custom:-

And some even LESS conventional stuff, like this 1957 Korina Futura!:-

I get the impression that these are the type of pics that Gibson's Dealers are able to peruse prior to purchasing new stock - I hope you find this interesting.

Here is a article on the pickup switch poker chip surround does this mean it's finally right ??

It may well be, just don't bet your house on it! lol We'd need some better photographs to see how much improved it is. Material, colour, shape, thickness, font, the way the letters are applied/embossed - I doubt that they nailed the lot in one fell swoop. There are companies specialising in this one aspect of the Les Paul that have still to get it just right, and the variations/inconsistencies in the original plastics just muddy the waters further.

Anyway, some interesting stuff nonetheless!

I remember way back when around the CA days, Gibson used to post photos of guitars on their Custom website as they came of the production line. I'm sure there were "issues" with doing this, but it was damn cool none the less. :headbange

You'll love this one or hate it! But you won't get lost in the usual crowd of LP, Strat or Tele wielders:-

Edit:- aren't the pickups a tad far apart?

if that didn't have a Bigsby I would be tempted - to hard to get to the controls with a Bigsby

I thought so too. IMHO, Facebook is worth the hassle if you get to see cool guitars like this once in a while.

CS 356 in Koa anyone?

This colour is called "Slow Iced Tea Fade"! Apparently, Gibson has an employee whose sole job is to think up new names for slight variations on existing colours. Fact.

Gibson management simply does not get the Internet.
Stupid "online pictures" regulations (when, 2004?) and now a Facebook Page with links to other pages where the pics don't work.
Example: https://www.facebook.com/GibsonCustom/posts/243624925688076

I guess they are the same "Harvard Guys" that are running the current US deficit.

Ha ha - I tried that link and got the following message:-

"You broke the internet. Good going. Try hitting the back button and maybe all this will just go away..."

Would anyone actually buy any of these guitars? I'd buy the Futura, if only to satisfy my Metallica urges in the same way that an SG scratches that AC/DC itch ....
