• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

What's Up with the HLPDB?

There were questions where to put CC guitars.

I would prefer "Signature Series", but they could also be uploaded in the category for their Burst year ("1959 Standard" for a Sandy or Goldie, for example).
Just make sure you add "CC..." to the serial#.

Thanks!

Thanks to a suggestion by pinefd there is another nifty little feature:

When you make changes to your guitars you now get thumbnails of the current images in the editor and not just links.

The server got a new operating system today and I had to update many packages and code, resulting in even better security of the HLPDB.

This was the reason for the downtime today and if you still have problems, please message me.

Thanks!

We have installed a caching extension to improve server performance.

If you have a fast internet connection the HLPDB should load much quicker now, especially in long list views.

Have fun!

The forum that accompanies the HLPDB got a huge update this week.

It's a separate site so it has it's own user registration and while it is in English most users are from Germany and Austria and post in German.

Some top notch German amp builders and guitar builder are regulars there.
Please feel free to post in English as everybody speaks it :)

You can browse most forums (but not all) if you are not registered yet, so please check it out.

Friends of the HLPDB: If you get occasional error messages from the database this is due to a daily backup routine of the server.

The server makes a backup at 5am CET, which is 11pm on the East Coast (or 12pm for 2 more weeks because we are not on DST yet) or 2pm in Japan.

During the backup the services go down for approx. 3 minutes, so please be patient and come back a couple of minutes later.

Thank you!

Our server has gotten a faster Internet line today (75Mb/s down and 10Mb/s up).

I hope this improves your experience with the HLPDB :salude

The HLPDB is well in it's 11th year (wow!) and thanks to a report from a user I found a quirk that must have bugged a lot of users: Apostrophes (like in "late 50's PAFs") in text you submit would throw a database error, because this character is used for listing the database fields.

We are now replacing this character with ´ automatically :bike

UPDATE!

The HLPDB has moved to a shiny new webspace (same hoster as burstserial.com) and is up and running again.

If you find any bugs, please holler. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

How come the Historic Les Paul Database Gear Page has a Fender Stratocaster pictured at the top? :dude:

Because it's the "Gear" page. Read the intro text on the page to see what it is for.

You might be looking for the HLPDB main page: Click in the menu on the right, or leave out the "/gear" in the URL or click on my signature :teeth
