• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Guitar Center may go under too ...... get your historic while you can

"Of course, the fates of both Guitar Center — the largest guitar retailer in America — and Gibson — one of the largest guitar manufacturers — are intricately linked. In both cases, these businesses have been unable to adapt to a precipitous slide in guitar sales. Younger buyers, who once drove the guitar surge, have now shifted towards EDM, rap, and less guitar-driven indie music — even though interest in music itself has never been higher."

(my take : there are just too many rappers out there - not enough long haired teenagers wearing spandex and cranking out EVH and Led Zep riffs )

What does GC have to do with Gibson's guitar division?

I see many people interested in guitar on the web these days. Great content in some cases and a lot of buzz in the vintage scene it seems.

Sales are down, are they *extremely* down? I don’t know. Still quite a few people buying.

Isn't Gibson's guitar division quite healthy compared to other parts of the business?

This actually may happen someday - but this been continuously predicted for a long time - and they are still in business. Hope they stay afloat.

To me GC was only to run in quick to grab strings or a pedal or a stand or something minor .When I buy Guitars, GC is not even on my radar .

When guitar manufacturers think that a good run of the mill guitar is $2000.00 and no-one is making good money, it's over.

They were named Organ Center at one time, then Vox Center. They need to rebrand to whatever youth wants fast.
