• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Ok you guys help me out...

I'm struggling with the whole pickguard thing. Should I install it or not? I love LP's with pickguards, but I'm not sure I'll like it on this particular guitar. If I drill the holes...

:hmm

I'd say if the pickguard color does not match the pickup rings color then leave it off, otherwise a couple of little holes won't matter. All the original LPs had the holes.

BTW I am eagerly awaiting the completion of #107.

I feel pretty chuffed actually!

My first Faded from Larry was one of the the original handful of prototypes. I sold it to a guy in Queensland that has all of the Custom 'Larrybits' in it.

My second Faded is on of the first group that Larry made. It has ALL of the 'Larrybits' as well as some fair dinkum 'show after show' wear! It is an outstanding instrument and when the LCPG is 'collectible' it will be up their with military Rolex 5517's (MilSubs).

Regardless, it is a keeper. A beautiful looking and sounding instrument and one of the nicest things I have ever bought in my life (apart from some of the highlights in my watch collection).

I think Larry has a 'mortgage' on all of the good Faded's that Gibson has made and the addition of 'Larrybits' only makes them better!

Cheers

Number 107 will be with me next week some time. I can't wait to actually play it. The sound clips sound fantastic to my ears AND it looks sweet too! :2cool

Congratulations on 107, Mike. It looks great! I have # 50. You'll have to put a set of your pickups in yours. I'm going to try it with mine when I get the time to do it.

Thanks Charlie! #50 looks great too!
I'll no doubt try a set of my pickups in it; but based on the clips it sounds like nothing needs fixing! :)

It's just in the middle position where the "Peter Green mod" comes into play. You could always flip the neck pickup's magnet back to what it was.

The two stock photos are just darker I think. The more angle and/or more light there is, the more the flame and subtle flame is picked up. I picked my two because they both have some characteristics of flame, plain and spalted :2cool

On a lot of these standard fadeds, from a dead on shot, you can't see much of the flame......turn em at an angle and POW!

I got LCPG-79 in late November and finally got around to taking some pics today when my new R8 arrived. The R8 is very nice so far, but I think the Standard Faded plays better with the unfinished neck. I got the 60's neck on the faded.

Also, Larry is just about the best I have EVER come across in terms of customer service and just being overall a great guy. Thanks Larry! If you are on the fence at all about these Standard Fadeds from Larry, just place your order and you will love it.

Much more so than most tobacco bursts. I actually don't have it yet...due to arrive next Wed., but I'll snap some pics when it comes in.
