I really want to jump on one or two of these from Larry. sillytele, I am thinking of doing the same thing-using after-market pickups instead of the magnet flipped BB Pro's. I am considering a set of Bare Knuckle PG Blues for one ans a set of WCR Moore/Green's for the other. Any thoughts on those selections?

Took delivery of LCPG #86 about three weeks ago. It's a tremendous guitar. Chambered, but the first thing I noticed was its acoustic resonance.

Larry now has his own "Manalishi" pickups wound. (I'm the proud owner of the first production set.) They have slightly less output than the BB Pros, and a woodier, more open tone.

With the other upgrades - RS pots, Faber bridge, lightweight tailpiece, and steel studs - this guitar sings. The clarity of the tone is astonishing: I can hear the wood and the magnets with a definition I'd never thought possible.

A wondrous piece of work. Thanks Larry!

I wonder if he'd sell one without the mods. I'm starting to shop around for a faded, but I already have the pots, caps, and pickups laying around to do it up how I want.

It's nice to be able to see a picture and know the weight of a guitar before ordering it. But that's a whole other can of worms. There is one locally that I'm into though.

Larry is a most obliging fellow so I suggest getting in touch with him. IMHO it's worth getting the Faber bridge, steel studs and locking tailpiece though, even if you don't want to do the whole PG flippety-flop.

Yeah, once I know 100% that I'm ready to buy, I plan on contacting him. The studs and tailpiece would be something I'd want. I just have to decide if I want to unload one of my 60's "other Gibsons" to finance a faded though.

Has anyone played their Faded as is for a while then had it done over by Larry?

Hi,

I just ordered some parts from CV guitars (pickup covers and rings) which were not directly available from the CV-shop, and I can confirm everything that has been said repeatedly about Larry Corsa: He's a true gentleman, and a real pleasure to do business with.

I already have a regular faded, but If I ever score another It will be one of Larry's LCPG modded 100% sure.

Just wanted to say how nice and customer-caring Larry is. :applaude

Yep - I dithered and dallied about various aspects of mine, got Larry to top-wrap it, then un-top-wrap it and reset the tailpiece. He was always more than willing to help out.

And let me reiterate how great the guitar sounds. Played a gig the other night and it was superb through my Matchless DC30 clone. Clear, crisp and chimey. I used the out-of-phase two-pickup sound much more than I thought would - sounds great with the ol' Bo Diddley "shave-and-a-haircut--two-bits" rhythm!!

Sweet, just listening to the clips of yours and of the GOTW that he modded.
Awesome
They both sound great.

Revived this thread to see if I can get any recent input about the LCPG Fadeds that CV Guitars is putting out. In my somewhat abnormal 'I need a new guitar' mood, I just pulled the trigger on one of the Tobacco finished models. I opted the Faber bridge & TP setup & a set of LC's Manalishi pups instead of the BB's...just for a change. I've been a Peter Green fan from the start. So what the heck!

Heard good things about these Fadeds & I've had the itch for a new Lester for some time now. Had a 70's Black Custom (marked 2nd) back then...& more recently, a couple of Classics, but they didn't last. I like a lightweight guitar, so I went for one that won't be a back-breaker...a 7 lb'er...:jim. Larry C was 1st class & a pleasure to deal with! All I have to do now is...wait for it to get here. Tick-Tock Tick-Tock

A few weeks ago I received my new Peter Green tribute Faded Les Paul from CV. I can't say enough about how nice the guitar is, and how great the service from CV was. If anyone is thinking of a faded, do yourself a favor and check out their website before you buy.

I've had a second faded for about a year (also with a flipped magnet) but the one from CV really sounds superior to it. Probably the combination of new pots/wiring and parts. The CV guitar was fantastic at a gig and for recording. I haven't owned a LP that sounds better (including vintage and plenty of Custom Shop/Historic models). And yes, that scale really does say 6 pounds, 10 ounces!

Wow, three and a half years later and I buy this same guitar - LCPG#78 - here in Canada.

Is Mel.Mann still a member of this forum? It would be nice to say "Hi" to him and perhaps chat about his old 'favourite' guitar.

Are you out there Mel.Mann? (your email connect is coming up, but is not working)

Well, MelMann has so far proved to be somewhat elusive.

Meanwhile my LCPG#78 is now being returned to Mr. Corsa at CV Guitar for a thorough 'check out and adjustment'. The guitar really has great tone, and I really love it, but as it was originally fitted out with 'BBPros' by CV Guitars in '07, then later had a 'non CV' (i.e. a third party) installation of the later CV designed 'Manalishi' pups, I decided that in order to ensure that I was getting the best out of the guitar, I would like to have it checked out. And who better to check it out than Mr. Corsa himself. This he has kindly agreed to do.

Hopefully then, in a couple of weeks or so, my #78 will be back safe and sound here in Canada. I just can't wait.

That looks like a nice guitar! Larry is a standup guy and I play lcpg #212 every day.The mods he does really gives a "woody"tone that is very different than the factory model.Recently,I've been putting the plastics [no more pink] I want on there.Larry's dimarzio rings, fatboy poker chip and pickguard from Danelectro.I know you'll have a blast when you get it back!

I wonder how much money Peter Green makes off each of these guitars that are sold using his name...
