• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I think you might be right, which is a little embarrassing :wah

I can imagine the conversation:

WW: "We want to do a limited limited run of Goldies for our shop, only they won't be gold in color, they'll be sunburst-new-from the factory! Sure, makes no sense based on the namesake alone and has about as much in common with the original as any run-of-the-mill R, but people will buy this!"

Gibson: "K. Got it, top like new, rest of specs like Goldie."

WW: "Yes, that's it! By jove, we're going to sell the crap out of these 5 overpriced R9s!"

*Guitars arrive*

WW: "Yay, these look great! Go ahead and post the press description online!"

*Turns over for photograph*

"D'oh."

I should've said GOLDEN, as in honey, lemon, etc. Not a friggin' goldtop, lol. Don't you own the original?

I used to. Been gone more than 15 years now.

Wasn't the another Historic, that was called Goldie and was a goldtop? Maybe a Betts or Allman signature model? :hmm

Howdoya like that - the body is listed as Mahogany and the neck is listed as Genuine Mahogany. ???
from some of the factory photos posted here, I have never seen real mahogany as pale as what they are using. The species has a lot of cousins that are lighter but not technically mahogany.
