• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Who is that the the christmas card?

Cheers Tom, same to you and all your mahogany friends :) Re-reading my original topic, it makes no sense, so I will ask it a little more englishly, who's is the burst in the card (presumably yours)? Details??

That's my 59 refin, that started life as a black Standard.
I had it bursted, because that flame was too nice to hide with black. ;)
I'll probably do a thread on it one of these days [maybe next week's Burst Pic of the Week].

A black Standard huh..................one of our pre-eminent NZ musicians has got one, maybe I should suggest to him a change, what do you think?
You've done it. Looks like faded tobacco burst?

Hang on, a black 59? Wouldn't that be very rare or maybe unique?

I wouldn't strip an original finish.
It was poorly refinned natural when I got it.
I will do it up better, for next week.
That is a cherry sunburst that is as deep red as they were when they left the factory. In retrospect, I wish I had lightened it up a little, as some of the flame is hidden [if you can believe that!].

Gives her a sort of mysterious look huh. Yep maybe a bit around the edges. Certainly a very definite red as you say.

Let's see.....black to natural knock off 50% so that's about $50k......natural to a poorly done cherry sunburst, deduct another 50% to $25K......missing covers....down to $20K.....Take it or leave it!

Issues or no issues, refin or not that is a great looking guitar!

I thought the cherry sunburst was perfectly done.
It sure wasn't poorly done. :wink2
