How soon before we get to hear the speaker shootout? New Scumback vs Weber Legacy, to find out which one sounds more like the original.

Jim wouldn't have been doing that if TA Weber had been able to supply the product. Weber failed. Period.

(And that may look like an assumption, but I'll let Jim tell his own story.)

Maybe Weber wanted to give Scumback the old "send off" ...

As stated above, Weber was the only one who would deal with Scumback.
Now, no one will ...

Scumback is forced to make his own speakers, without the recipe, different parts ,and different employees.
You're sure Scumbacks will be good though .... ok ....

Not too many professionals are capable of that level of quality.

It takes a special talent to ship out-of-the-box defectives for your highest volume customer...and then offer the product factory direct under a different guise...and admit it on a company website...while claiming utmost honesty and integrity.

Might want to edit your post to suggest it is an opinion. Not my place to say, and trust me, I have no dog in this fight as I deal with Celestion for new speakers and have a stash of the "genuine article" stowed away.

I see this as an non-issue in the long run. Weber has fans and Scumbag has fans.

Maybe some on this thread have excellent info or even intimate info.

I, personally, find it unfortunate when folks feel a need to be caught up in drama. I presume it can be seen that I am doing so as well. Let me at least suggest that it isn't the case.

I'll be 60 soon and I have attended most of the "rodeos" the music biz can offer. I also have friends that happen to be in the M.I.< musical instrument wholesale/retail > biz. Some of that biz is all contracts and patents, some is flying by the seat of the pants as patents and such are not in the game as the market will not justify the expenses involved.

This deal will shake out. Hopefully to the benefit of those who so deserve.

Bottom line, buy what you feel good about buying. Neither Weber nor Scumback are on my personal future purchase radar.

What I do believe is that the M.I. biz exists to serve pros and serious hobbiests alike. Deliver the no horseshit goods and prosper.

As an off subject suggestion? Some of the Celestion speakers done for certain recent Marshall smaller production amps are "all that" too.

Make whomever wants your hard earned bread earn it, I likely should stop discussing speakers I have no interest in.

Why quote my post when you have "no dog in this fight"?

So....you're saying the previous post I quoted isn't suspect?

I have an opinion just like you, and mine is just as valid as anyone else's. I just pointed out public access disclosure from a website.

Scumback had no problem putting his sticker on those defective speakers and jacking the price up

What "different guise", Weber's posts and description seem
significantly more unbiased than Scumback, and his fan boys

I am/was completely neutral in this, don't know Scumback At ALL
After reading these posts, I don't want too.
Very turned off by him and his posse

Yes, until I read the barage on the Gear Page
Including those predicting/desiring Weber to go out of bizness

My posts here/there are to give Scumback's posse a wrap
across the snout to say 2 can play this

That TGP clique had been pretty overboard

All of this has materialized after Ted's passing. That's very telling. No matter what's up with either brand, the sun will still come out tomorrow.

Didn't one of Scumbacks posts say that Ted Sr. said
"if production out grows his shop, he'll recommend another manufacturer" ?

So ... Go there ?
Why blame Weber Jr, if production out grew his shop.

No one else would work with Scumback, that's very telling.

I see a lot of people jumping to conclusion here and on other forums. rickc007, unless you've heard Jim's side of the story directly from him you have really no idea you're talking about. Ultimately this dispute is none of our concern. If you want to show your support for either side do it with your speaker purchases and stopping shit talking someones business on internet forums. You sound like a bunch of teenage girls gossiping!

That's the whole point.

Scumbacks fans are slandering the daylights out of Weber.
Unless they have talked to Weber direct ....
Even if so, it's none of there business

If they want to support Scumback speakers that's fine.
But this rabid slander campaign against Weber ????

I agree with you. It's wrong for people to shit talk Weber too. This is a dispute between two business entities. It's best if parties who aren't directly involved stay out of the fray. It's just going to reflect poorly on both sides.

It seems that production wasn't a problem...it was delivery and QC issues.

The companies that Scumback approached didn't refuse to work with him, so your statement is false, pure and simple. If you're comfortable with spreading false information, that your prerogative.

Do a little internet searching and you'll come up some decent information.

That's where I got the info, including the thread on TGP
Re-read it, and then search some more

Has the Cease and Desist been issued yet ?
Why not ?

I see that you are in the speaker reconing business. Do you have a dog in this fight? Wouldn't Weber be a competitor in the reconing business? Will you be building/reconing for Scumback in the future?

For full disclosure - I am a satisified customer of Weber, and they also provided me reconing supplies and let me stand over them and watch and ask dumb questions. What I really like about Weber is their pricing of $25 for a recone on any of their speakers when they're out of warranty.
