• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

1) Sound-clip or it didn't happen.
2) Why not play a left-handed guitar?
3) Looks really cool!

Here's a "short" A/B between the original pickups (Seymour Duncan) and the 2006 DrVintage pickups by Wolfetone.
starting with the Seymour Duncan and the DrVintage.
dicitte.com/images/SWD_vs_DrVintage.wav

Those DrVintage pickups really bring the bright & woody tone found on many 50's Gibson guitars that I owned in the past.

Unplugged, the brass thumbwheels and steel studs and the vintage tailpiece changed the primary tone clearly !

I play my Les Paul that way since I was a kid... so I got used to play it like that. All the burst I owned in the past were "regular", I tried a lefty burst once and I didn't like it at all !!! (later called the McEnroe burst).

Thanks Tim, yeah, that Pearly is still my #1 guitar.

Mind posting a picture what you did to your hands?

Kidding....

That stuff looks great. I love Wolfe's pickups.

But what about the switch tip and the plastics? That’s where you really get the most tone improvement.

Huh ? You tell me :##
Sorry I'm old, I didn't hear the difference in tone when I swap the original 2009 switch tip for a 59 switch tip ! :hmm

Seriously, the Pearly Gates Les Paul came originally with non-steel studs and steel thumbwheels and potted pickups.
Swapping those parts made a difference.

But maybe "Je suis dans l'champ" (off) ... but I like it !

No way! It's the correct "aged" replica case that makes the most difference.

The Wolfetones definitely sound more clear. The Duncans sound kinda muddy.

It's cool that you're still rockin' Pearly. I sold mine.

Wasn't that the one where you found a pic of BFG holding your Pearly at the Custom Shop? Should've been a keeper. I recall it looked awesome.

They seem hard to find these days. The OP's looks great.

Great sound clip.
Wish I could hear more!

To my ears that later clip sound like a old one. It had that almost (Harmonica almost FUZZ) sound that I hear on old ones.:yah:yah:yah

One tip I can give is those stainless steel bolts for the ABR1.
One R8 I hade really really benefitted from them, made a huge difference.
Another R7 I had wich already had a powerfull done gained noting.
