• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

OK I think I understand. It is not correct for a Gibson True Historic, pretty close but not quite a '59, not a replica, because it originally came from Gibson.
What I mean with "losing money": You might still be able to get a little more than a used original True Historic, but the amount that went into the Makeover will be gone.

Not in this lifetime.....and it'll be no closer to the real thing that it was when it arrived from Gibson.

I wrote "you might" ... from someone who likes the look and the Brazilian and stuff.

Not totally sure about this. Virtually every Historic Makeover or Dave Johnson Makeover of an Historic Les Paul that I have seen sells on the used market for more than the price of the new Historic and considerably more than an unaltered used version of the same guitar. A Makeover of a True Historic is likely to be a totally unique one of a kind instrument. Few people will ever do what Orreman did to such a pricey instrument. But we all know the truth about resale of used instruments. They are worth exactly what the buyer is willing to pay for it and not our own opinion of what we would be willing to pay for it. Only time will tell what it ends up being worth in the long run. I also am pretty confident from reading this thread that it is not a guitar or process that was undertaken to make a profit. If someone has the money to take such a step, I say good for them. Especially if it makes them happy. :peace2

So, did you get the guitar already, how does it sound after the makeover?

+1 Life is too short to not do what you want to do.

Your guitar looks amazing. Here's hoping you enjoy it for many years. :salude

Gotta say, I love the geek talk and pictures with lines drawn on them. Wish you guys would do that more often.

Yes, each case/guitar is different but I think you will still lose on a HM. A RDS R7 sold (I think) last year on eBay for about $4,300. DJs are safe bets, in my opinion, and will be for a long, long time.

This project was never about money or making some kind of profit.
It was all about having my dream guitar made.
Will post some really cool pictures later today:)

Hi guys,

Back from 2 weeks vacation in Thailand.

Here are some fantastic pictures taken by Florians friend Christoffer Leitner who's a professional photographer. Check him out here: www.leitner.tv

I would also like to thank Peter S for lending his 1927 Ford and Roman H for lending his 1950 Harley Davidson to this project.
