I recently sold my American Strat to buy a Martin. Now I want a single coil, and I don't want to spend Fender money. I've always wanted a Telecaster. I am looking at the Classic Vibe 50's. I've seen a lot of good reviews. Does anyone have one or ever played one? What do you think? I'm going to swing by GC this weekend. Hopefully they have one I can play.

"Fender money"? I've a couple of friends with them and have played them, they're nice guitars. A Tele is my go-to guitar and the Squires I've played cut the mustard. I don't own one, but I'd buy one quite happily.

FWIW, here are my pair (76 on the left, CH sig on the right):

EDIT: this post makes no sense since the OP edited his (possibly having the same trouble posting atm as I am) but I can't be arsed to keep editing it.

Very nice. I would love to have a vintage guitar someday. The Player Telecaster is $679 (Fender money). The Squire is $429. From my research, the Classic Vibe is just as good.

I bought a Classic Vibe 50's Strat when they first came to market. It was nice. Excellent value for money, I believe.

I replaced the neck for one with a nitro finish eventually. Improved the feel a lot.

I bought a Squier and was not happy with the action or sound, traded it back in for a '92 USA-made Peavy Predator strat clone and it rocks.... Its my 'go to' piece now.. Bought a 2010 Gibson Les Paul 'faded' studio last week and its going to take some getting used to.

When they came out they were a great band for the buck. I had a couple. I know prices have gone up since then. I swapped mine for a nice MIJ Squier.

I think with a pro set-up, they're pretty good guitars. I was really surprised by how good the tuners are, for a guitar aimed at the budget and beginners market. I have two '60s Vibe Squier Strats; the LPB is my home office guitar, the Candy Apple Red I had strung up in Nashville Tuning by Sweetwater:
