• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Most of the one's that sold were aged, and those were going for 12K. The VOS might be a harder sell considering its basically a 58 reissue with a missing pick up cover. Pee stained pick up guards are worth more : p :teeth

Only aged and signed went for that price. Aged is around 8k, I think.

The VOS has a True Historic sticker attached to it. Might not be the worst deal if you like a Washed Cherry then.

So #8 3096 was the first "legit" burst?
What happened to the second one?
Is it accounted for and currently owned/played/public?

Does anyone know when Slash got the guitar and what he paid for it?

I think the re-issue looks great.

I'm stupid. When did he get this guitar? His first burst was Perry's old right? Is this a guitar he used back in GnR (the old version)?

His first burst was not Perry's tobacco burst.
After initial success with GNR, Slash went on a big vintage guitar buying spree.
He bought a Korina V, an Explorer, couple bursts from Tom Wittrock, this '58 (which wasn't necessarily known as the first 2-piece sunburst Std. back then), couple goldtops, and Joe Perry's tobacco burst off a pawn shop.
This was late 80's/early 90's.
There was a picture of all the guitars and the famous JCM800 Frank Levi amp he used in recording the Illusion Albums floating around on the internet, and I believe this '58 is in that picture.

Does anyone thinks its worth buying a gloss one? Is this a piece that would be valuable as time goes on? I know the VOS did appreciate but wondering if something like would actually appreciate in value...thoughts

Actually, he bought his first Burst [a 59] from me, then the Joe Perry very shortly after from Tut Campbell.
I later sold him another 59, through a mutual friend.

So as said in my intro that I had gotten VOS and I like the guitar there are a few things that are not correct. craftsmanship on my guitar are little sloppy I final notice small things are bother me. one of the pole position screws are bent it sits on the tunomatic bridge. Has anyone else experienced this problem. I m sending mine back.

It seems pretty quiet on this thread. For those that bought one of these, what are your thoughts? Curious on whether the run of 150 glossy versions will at least hold their value. Thanks in advance.

I'm still considering this guitar. Does anyone on the forum have one and can give me their opinion on it? Thanks very much in advance.

I bought one last December and I have no problems with it, it's a good unit. It came with a TH decal on the pickguard and the TH metal cover on back. Real fat neck. I do not regret the purchase
