My local tech is very big on Warehouse G12 C/S as being good for Deluxes/DR's. I put one in mine today and boxed up the non-original but early 60's Jensen.
Will advise after a break-in period.
Agreed… If you plan on getting the amp above two… The speakers are gonna fail and burn up. In tweeds I am a fan of Celestion speakers. Very warm and tight sounding. Weber just sent me some of their alnico 10 inch speakers that clear the transformer on the Bassmans that sound fantastic if you are into alnico.
Good luck and play loud!

By the way… we get 35 shows out of the classic 80's in the high power tweed twins before the cones literally start and sometimes succeed in twisting themselves off the baskets. :##

Thats what a bandmate has in his '67 BFDR and they sound great. Sound real warm and "vintage". :dude:

Weber Alnico silver tens are my favorites. Have two in a custom built cabinets with a tweed deluxe. I went through a ton of tens before deciding on these. Great match for tweedies!!!!

I'm facing a similar dilemma. I have the original Oxford in my brown deluxe (it has been reconed). It sounds wonderful but I plan to play this thing at high volume for extended periods. Since its been reconed already should I just play on and not worry, or swap it out for a workhorse? I've got a brand new G12H30 just sitting around but I'm afraid that speaker is going to ruin the sound of this amp for me.
Cool. I'm curious to hear your thoughts.
well folks, i'm here to report my thoughts on replacing my reconed vintage P12r in my '58 tweed super with a pair of celestions g12 Golds.
the golds are louder, have a tighter low end, smoother stop end especially when pushing the amp, more low mid which i original though would be any issue in the super, but it is not, adjusted the amp eq to compensate.. The thing i like the most is the amp has more punch which helps me articulate my playing better.. i also feel the golds have great depth, just like the p12R did at lower volumes.. all in all i think the Golds are a winner :yah. i don't think I'm going to miss the reconed p12R.. oh yeah, the amp is a little heavier with the golds.. :dang
thats my story and i'm sticking to it ..:salude
