• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Well I have some very good news.... it's done! Florian has spent the weekend fine tuning the aging and putting it all back together. He has also aged the plastics and hardware for me because he insisted you can't put shiny hardware back on a guitar that looks like this and I whole heartedly agreed. I absolutely love it, I think it looks truly awesome.

He did me a short video to run me through it all and it looks absolutely amazing. It looks like a guitar that has seen some action but at the same time has been well loved. It's fairly subtle and exactly what I'd hoped for. The patina on the back looks very cool. Don't know how he did it, he's a magician that's for sure. It looks very convincing, he's done an incredible job.

When we were discussing it we agreed to not give it the buckle rash treatment as that's something I can add myself over time which I think is nice and makes it a little more personal.

I haven't got pictures to post just yet but this will be coming. Florian is seeing if he can arrange for some proper photographs to be taken which will be great to really show off the finer details.

But most of all.... wait for it! Wait for it....... NO FRIKIN' DEAD SPOTS!!!!!! πŸ˜‰πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ»πŸ»πŸ»πŸ»πŸ»πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜Ž Hallelujah Sisters and Brothers! Hallelujah......

I can't tell you all how happy I am. Florian played every note for me on the board and it's all ringing out clear as a bell. He said it sounds really great and he's very happy with the results. And boy, so am I.

Theres still more to come so stay tuned....

Yeah, so definitely all this to come. Florian is on it with some professional quality photos which I'm really looking forward to. And it's looking like I'm going to fly back to collect which will be awesome. I'm really looking forward to seeing Florian again. And definitely a video review when I get it back home just to prove I'm not actually worthy of such an instrument. At this point gotta see it through the right way. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜Ž

Almost under English skies.

Save travels Brother, go and bring The Argonaut home safe in the knowledge that you've had the class to share it's re-birth with enormous candour and grace.

This one will be remembered, well bloody played.

No dead spots - a very strange thing to say, but I feel personally satisfied that this mission has been accomplished.

I'm made up for you Pal.

Can't wait to see those photos, you must be hugely excited.

Good call on the buckle rash - one thing really stands out on the Murphy ageing for me and it's how high the back wear is - as though James Hetfield has been playing it for 20 years (he wears his LOW). The two guitars I have with genuine buckle rash have it right in the middle. I've found I tend to add wear slightly higher than that. It's all about leaving your own mark!

For those complaining about the minutiae and detail within this thread, you're probably on the wrong forum if you don't like that, and I play my guitars plenty thank you very much! ;)

Yes, 100% I'm very excited. And definitely agree on the buckle rash. A good move...

It's all kinda worked out nicely with going back. When I met with Florian we did discuss how to get " The Argonaut " back and we did talk about coming back in person. I really, really wanted to do it like that but thought there's just no way I can swing it.

So this has all worked out really great. She deserves to travel like a princess, a flight back on a seat up with me, not just thrown in the hold like a hessian sack. And of course I'm very much looking forward to seeing Florian again. It's been quite the journey for both of us.

I was trying to arrange it for this side of the weekend, just grab my stuff and go tomorrow or Thursday but Friday was looking like it may be a bit tricky for Florian. That would have meant trying to get a flight out on Friday, but the prices were a bit on the ridiculous side and the times I'd have to fly at would be a pain and wouldn't leave alot of time if something went wrong or was delayed.

But as it is it's worked out great. Apparently its snowing right now in Oberstdorf but the forecast is set to clear up by the weekend so with any luck it'll be a beautiful sight when I get there. So yeah, really looking forward to seeing that. The train ride from Munich to Oberstdorf if it's possible is promising to be even more spectacular.

Maybe, might even add some journey induced checking to that finish.... 😎😎😎

It's really coming down this morning in Oberstdorf! I'm going to need snow boots at this rate. I think it looks beautiful but I'm not so sure Florian agrees.

You know what they call that in The 'Norf ? Long sleeves weather.

They have a Cobra meeting in that there Londinium....
