I just saw these for the first time. Somebody knows the reason why they put on these at Gibson? Searched and saw 2 or 3 of them, so I assume they are factory installed. They are glued on (have a customer which brought one in). Thanks Mick

Booboo rings.
They're not as bad as the ones that go around the whole pickup on Deluxes.
They'd have to be glued to keep from flapping.

Since I am from germany, please explain booboo rings. Do they cover up flaws? My first thought.

Yes, they cover flaws.
I assume there was drilling and/or routing after finish was applies and the area looked rough.
The pickup ones are odd because that routing seems to have been done before paint.

I seem to remember them on three point bass bridges also from the early seventies.
