• THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING! We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and now have to move to a new host. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

New Gibson SG Day, a nice 2023 SG Special P90. This is a great Gibson, I like the new darker Cherry finish, not the washed orange, neck profile is slim taper. I will make some modifications: may be metal nickel P90 covers, wide bevel pickguard, adjustable wraparound bridge and vintage repro knobs with pointers.
Made in Costa Rica brown/pink case is very well made, high quality. I will post better pictures.

I tried metal nickel covers but I prefer the stock black ones, the 5 ply wide bevel pickguard and the vintage repro knobs fit nicely.

I need your help about the P90 cover springs, what is the direction of assembly?

Great guitar.

Congrats. šŸ¤˜

I am not a fan of your proposed modifications, though. :giggle:

I got an email from Gibson that the Pelham Blue version is available again (at a dealer near you).

Right, Burgundy and Pelham Blue SG Special P90 are available again. No more Cherry and Ebony.
Do you know this model? Simple SG Special P90 full power, no binding, wraparound bridge...

There is usually no springs. The P-90s are screwed down the bottom of their cavities.

Here is a better picture,
I don' t remember how the springs were installed, which part is in contact with the cover? Thank you for your help.

These screws are not the wood screws usually used to set P-90s. Those need metal inserts in the wood at the cavity's bottom (which may be present in your guitar). In this case, the springs go under the pickup, the screws passing through them.
The screws go first through the covers, then the pickups, then the springs and scew in the inserts.

It makes no difference how you orient the springs.
Put one narrow end up, the other narrow end down and see which is easier.

The narrow part of the springs come into contact with the P90.

Finally I will keep the stock black P90 covers.
