I was getting ready to list a Gibson Les Paul Elegant for sale on Reverb, and while I thought I remembered the guitar being a '98 model, I couldn't confirm it with the serial number. I've had it over 20 years and I'm forgetful. The serial number is CS 0849 as shown in the photo. Any help in dating would be appreciated.

It should be the year 2000 as the 2nd version, the '98 model (as the 1st version) comes with the Custom Shop logo on the front headstock.

What's your asking price?

Okay...that makes sense. Not sure why I thought it was a '98, but then I'm getting old and forgetful. I'm going to list it for $4750 and won't accept lower offers. If it doesn't sell, I'm happy to keep it. Thank you for your input.

All of '97 and most of '98 had the Custom Shop wreath logo on the headstock and also didn't have the CS in front of the serial numbers. I don't know if the CS serial numbers in 2000 followed the current tradition of leading number indicating year or not. I don't think that started until they went to the 5-digit serial number. So this one could just be sequential in whatever year it was produced.

Thanks for your comment. I'll probably just list it as "circa 2000", as I know it's from about that time.
