• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

^^^^^ Amen!^^^^^

Can we stop using the "M" word please? Mint = in new condition, unplayed, as it left the factory.

Call it clean, call it nice, call it... exceptionally fine. Just don't call it mint, or "near-mint", please. Thanks!:eek:la

OK, I hate to stick my dick in the punchbowl, but there's definitely been some buffing between when Tom took his photos, and now. (Not that it matters, IMO.) There's a lot of light scratches on the lacquer that aren't there anymore. I don't think they buffed out any checking, but that finish is a lot smoother and shinier than this guitar here:

Hi there,
I am the owner. The guitar is in daily use in my studio. It has NOT been buffed or anything. The special lighting in my studio caused a gradual fade over the years. I prefer the ice tea to the strong red. I have 2 58s, 2 59s and 2 60s.Some of them are still very strongly red, but the two I use daily(58,59)are ice tea'd.
Best Regards,

Nice to have you here. :salude

I think the difference in the photos is the quality of the photos. Mine were shot quickly while checking it out in a band room, while Oswin's appear to be professional studio shots.

It still looks great to me. :dude:

That guitar has been in Germany for decades, as I recall. Not owned by a regular Forum member, and the current owner just joined [and revived the thread].

Thanks, I recall a burst with similar oval shaped grain in the lower bout and the Fretted Americana reference made me think I'd seen it around here before...like I said...it's all a blur sometimes. FA was brokering the guitar in the States?

I simply don't get it. TG had it up for sale lately. It's marked as sold. Owner answeres in this thread that he ownes it and owned it for years already. Didn't change hands, did it?

Kerry, are you thinking of burst Howard Leese sold through FA? It had that characteristic from my recollection.
