Les Paul Junior p90 pole adjustment

Hi. I have a new (2021) Gibson Les Paul Junior with the P90 pro pickup which I love.
However, I find the G string is a little too loud but no matter how hard I try, I can't screw the pole piece down! In fact, I can't screw any of the pole pieces down - - they go up fine but there's no way I can lower volume of any of the strings by lowering the pole piece. The strange thing is that my back-up Epiphone LP jr's p90 pole pieces easily adjust up and own.
What gives?

You can only go down to the bobbin. Just about flush to cover. Volume inequities with G & B are part of the classic voice of p90 tone. Listen to any Mountain track.

Thanks Big Al - - happy to have that cleared up. The Epiphone P90 must have a different configuration is its easy to screw the poles to below the black cover. The G string on mine isn't too bad - - my main challenge now is that the bottom E string is a bit overbearing (D'Addario XL 10-46 strings).
But, as you rightly point out, it's just a characteristic of the guitar, much like the quieter B string on the early Strats.

Couldnt you just leave the G pole where it is and raise the E A D B and E poles above the G to find the volume balance?
If you can't go down, go up.
