• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I have a les paul traditional 2013, doesn't fit in case?

Hello, I have recently purchased a les paul traditional 2013 model, but the original case that it came with was quite beatdown so i decided to buy myself a new case.
After lots of research I settled on the SKB56 les paul hard case as that seems to be a popular model.
However, I found out that the tuning pegs of my D and G string is touching the bottom of the case, and when the case closes (since it is very tight), the headstock might also be pushing against the bottom of the case.
is this normal? or is there anything i could do?
Thanks!

You could stick a nice towel underneath the headstcok to better brace and secure it . (that's what I would do )

the headstock is already pushing against the bottom of the case, which is my concern, why would i add something beneath it increase the pressure?

Just return it and get a Gibson case if you’re not happy, you shouldn’t have to compromise.

I’ve got a 2013 traditional too. Honey burst, nice guitar, massive neck and no weight relief it punches above its weight.

If the headstock is touching the case, the case could do more harm than good.
Firebird cases were like this in the 60's and many a 'bird came out of the case with a broken headstock.
If you want to keep the case, your instincts are correct, do NOT put anything under the headstock, put something in the cradle where the neck rests to get the headstock clear.

I would return the case… a friend of mine also had fitting issues with this SKB model.
I think the Gibson protector re issue or Gator equivalent are a better fit
