How can I see a Burst?

How can I see a burst? I live in LA. Is there ever an opportunity to see one in public? It would just be so fun to see one even from 20 ft away. Does Norman’s Rare Guitars have bursts in their vault?

Check with Norm. I know he had one when I was last there maybe 7 or 8 years ago. Don't know about now. Nothing mentioned on his website.

There are a lot of small and medium sized guitar shops in the LA area as well as the big Guitar Center shop on Sunset Blvd. I've been to almost all of them on my travels to LA on business before I retired 5 years ago. Google Maps can help you find them and ask around.

I was able to play the real Goldie at Rumble Seat music when it was still in Carmel-By-The-Sea back in 2015.

All the times I have been to LA I have tried to figure out where his house is but no luck.

Like I said, I've been there several times when I was in LA on business. Norm and his staff were always very friendly and accommodating. I played several vintage guitars and amps. On one trip, 10 years ago, it happened to be my 60th birthday. I bought one of his books. He had one of the guys take our picture together and had every person in the shop sign the book and wish me a happy birthday. That book was the most expensive thing I ever bought there. I'll never forget it.

Norm does not have any Bursts in his vault (as far as I am aware, that's only hearsay but from a source I trust.)

Guitar shows are the way mate. If you ever get across the pond we do the Burst Believers stands at some of the shows here in the UK. We have had up to 8 at a time here once or twice!

Honestly though dude, it's totally not unachievable. I set myself a ridiculous goal on my 21st birthday (because honestly at that point in my life I really needed a reason to stick around) that I would play a real burst by the time I was 22. By sheer accident I actually succeeded, 3 years down the line I have played almost a dozen bursts. They are out there and the people who own them are often very nice!

They had three bursts just sitting there in their cases. I was kind of surprised. They were super cool about me holding it just for a gratuitous shot. I went from 0 bursts seen to 3. Pretty fun.

If you’re ever in Cleveland, there are some historic bursts on display. Duane Allman’s ‘59 was there when I visited, and some others I can’t recall. You’re not allowed to take photos but that didn’t stop me and my 2009 iPhone.

That’s cool. I assume you’re talking about the R&R hall of fame. I was there a long long time ago before my LP obsession. It would be great to revisit. If I recall correctly they had a big Grateful Dead Wall of Sound exhibit going on.
