Interesting post ....I was always wondering since I have a Les Paul custom that the serial # is my birthday .....too weird .....Summitted for your approval .....man and tool bound together in a state of rock n roll......well ok a bit over board but fun triva to share a b day with your guitar the odds are pretty high to have bought the guitar and then six months latter decode the serial number.

Good on you,
All my Les Pauls have Birthdays, One of them has the same birthday as my Wife. I might from Time to Time forget hers, but never the Heritage Standard 80.
Do yours have names?
The heritage 80 is called Wensleydale
Am I the only sad one?

Oh my God, and names too!! What is this world coming to? Dave, you really need to read the thread on naming guitars. I think that was about a month ago started by Leatpimp.

An old roomate of mine used to name my guitars. they were pretty witty but you had to be there .My black custom he named after my girlfriend.....she always wore black and was a bleeched blonde......hence the custom was named for her due to all it's flashy gold and black. IF she ever found out she would be pissed. Still years latter he will ask me how is .....doing.

Oooopps..... Hope I haven'tre-opened a "can of worms" as we say here in England. Rich's mails are sooooo funny.
Maybe the guy that thinks it's gay to name guitars would like to tell Keef. Mind you don't tell him face to face as you may not hang on to your face for long.
I agree guitars are like pets and demand loving care and attention as well as endless talking rubbish about them. If we care about them so much as everyone on this site seems to then why not make them even more personal, A bit like Rich's imaginary friend !!!
We're only having a bit of fun, better than all the discussion about what thread size is your pick up switch tip, and what size is the screw that fixes the scratch plate....................
