• THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING! We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and now have to move to a new host. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

I got a response!

“Hi Ethan, I am not able to confirm that”

I asked him about the serial number on the back so I’m wondering if it would be incriminating if he did confirm it.

But he didn’t say no, so there we go. I can’t officially call it aged by Tom.

Not surprised by his answer.

Please clarify: Response from whom?

Tom Murphy direct, or the service representative?

Good luck on your safari.

The guitar on the right in my avatar was a 1988 prehistoric. The neck was on the thin side but it was low #8 weight and the neck PUP killed. I sold it to buy a 2007 R9 that were the rage. Bad plan.
But I will never begrudge anyone from their own experience.
if you have the resources keep this one, buy the new one and compare in your own house with your own rig on your own time.
Keep the winner.
Or better yet, you know what our motto is here “keep them all”.

OK- now- with a straight face- and that is key- no smirking- you can look at your significant other and say “ But corpse from LPF said I should keep all of them”.
Remember the straight face part.

Pretty guitar, also not even close to any R Series reissue. WTF??? Why is there any question??? Not a Historic R9, period. Anyone check for holly veneer on headstock?? I can`t see the pics and stopped reading after pg 3.

If you quit reading after page 3 then you have no idea what has been discussed about this guitar and are just wasting time with your post. It has already been determined what the guitar isn't. What it is remains in doubt.

I can see the photos just fine. There are a lot of them.

You have to click on the very small thumbnail pic to make it big, Al ;)

Al, are you using a smartphone? 'cause they won't open for me either -on a phone. On PC it works fine (with the pics in the original post #1).
