Didn't Firemist Gold come in to replace Shoreline Gold (I thought ca. late '65)? Possibly the above charts are out of temporal order. Cool thread.
I've seen only two Fenders, a strat and a tele, in Daphne Blue that I'm virtually certain had original custom color, and neither had a clearcoat and were still blue! Killer color for a Fender, IMO, I much prefer it over pastel Sonic Blue myself, I find it different. But as Bart W. said, if you have an old Fender with original Daphne Blue, probably no one will believe it!
I think they must have done a small batch of Strats in Sherwood Green in 12/65, the first (neck date) month w/the large head. Back in the '80s I encountered 3 or 4 of those in NC and GA amongst people I knew or met.
PS: Is there any definitive knowledge about the color/origins of the Hendrix/Gibbons pink strat? Tom, did you say you saw it long ago at BG's house? I've seen photos in last 20 years where it looked somewhat orange, presumably from topcoat, but not really like Fiesta new or old.
