• THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING! We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and now have to move to a new host. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

Well if it is even remotely true this would be a horrible PR move by the US Gov't. Nobody has the right to barge into your house and take something that is legal to own and has been for a long time.. Matter of fact there is guy outside my bus right now waiting to make a citizens arrest... Oh wait... Hes just one of those ebay guys that asks me to sign a ton of pickguards...:dude:

I would like to see them try to take a guitar from a major artist while that artist was performing. Be careful, this could make the sixties happen again.

1. Have News Corp tap the phone of the writer of that piece as well as hack into his emails.

2. Have NASA launch a rocket with an earth capable rover that touches down in our nations capitol and roams the halls of congress probing for any signs of intelligence.

3. Have the Senate form a new committee with a 20 billion dollar budget to investigate whether or not Gibson employees have been under the influence of performance enhancing drugs i.e. HGH, while building electric guitars.

4. Have another committee with an even more ridiculously over the top budget investigate Elliot Easton as to whether he purchased or conspired to purchase possible illegal retro Beatle boots.

5. Begin another investigation into Joe Bonamassa as to whether any guitars he has ever sold have wound up in the hands of Mexican drug cartels and ultimately Mexican musicians crossing back over the U.S. border to be played at American music festivals. Subpoena Eric Holder to find out what he knew and when he knew it.

6. Have a presidential appointed action committee draw up legislation that would change the name of our national symbol, the bald eagle. Its plain as shit to anyone looking at the bird that its a bad comb over.

We have a lot of work to do people but together we can come together to become people helping people and those people are depending on our children and our children's children.

correct me if im wrong, but didnt one of our own forum members have his guitar seized on its trip from canada to HM down in fl? the next step from that would be taking them from musicians hands. i dont see how this is perceived as so "far fetched".

Aw, come on, Tex. It's not the fretboards in Elliot's guitars that give them that tone -- it's the resonance due to the lead in the paint you can only get with Pelham blue.

....Just kidding, E.E.

Back to the article, I think it is a good thing to see a bipartisan initiative from a couple of senators to clarify this whole mess and at least draw a line in the sand that says guitars built before a certain date are not in any sort of violation of CITES. I'm e-mailing mine to tell them to get on that bandwagon.
