Why are you here Steve? Your recently deleted message was pretty critical of the forum.
Are you from Porcupine Tree?
The Grainger Burst reached $350k (incl. BP). I’d have thought it would go further, also given that price levels generally didn’t exactly come across as being low…It was sold for $579,000 last time.
Sold
I have been observing / thinking the same thing. I got used to "one-owner, pristine" Bursts popping up on Denmark Street in previous years, and would treat such announcements with due scepticism.Has anyone else notices an unusually high number of nearly mint or nearly unfaded bursts have popped up in the last 3ish years? What is the old saying 1600 made in 59 5000 exist today. Unbelievable really!
Might just be boomers retiring or dying, so they or their famlies sell off their collectionsHas anyone else notices an unusually high number of nearly mint or nearly unfaded bursts have popped up in the last 3ish years? What is the old saying 1600 made in 59 5000 exist today. Unbelievable really!
You can get in touch with Eric Ernest through his Facebook page:I have been observing / thinking the same thing. I got used to "one-owner, pristine" Bursts popping up on Denmark Street in previous years, and would treat such announcements with due scepticism.
But these days, there are announcements of "attic discoveries" practically on a monthly basis. Then there are the 'Bursts with duplicate serial numbers...
Simultaneously, serious experts like Ganzler, Wittrock (Tom) or Eric Ernest have withdrawn from public discourse. It appears so has a celebrity collector,/contributor to this forum.
Personally, now that I am at a stage in my life where I'd be willing to spend several hundred 000's of dollars on a guitar, I am at a loss whom to trust. I just missed an opportunity on a '59 of indisputable reputation and lineage. Is proven provenance the only way to authenticate these days?
Ping me if you know of a Burst (0-0xxx preferred) with proven track record that's available.
I never had a Burst but several very nice vintage Gibsons and Fenders.Simultaneously, serious experts like Ganzler, Wittrock (Tom) or Eric Ernest have withdrawn from public discourse. It appears so has a celebrity collector,/contributor to this forum.
It appears the forum has over the past three years has taken a turn , Several - collectors- one time - Burst buyers have gone MIA .
