Hi fellas,

So normal custombuckers are made with Alnico 3s but I am wondering if the CC and Artist pups use magnets that better reflect the tonal properties of the guitar they are trying to replicate? Or is the furthest they go is measuring the resistance of the winds?

If it is a Custombucker it is III. If it is a Burstbucker it is II. This subject has been discussed quite a bit and is worthy of a search.

Hmm so Alnico 3s no matter what (unless by error). Obviously they would try to match the impedance, perhaps they take gauss readings well? I think that would have a noticeable impact. Basically I'm just trying to figure out how far they nerd over the pups for these models

IIRC , For those models , Gibson compares the model being produced,( maybe doing a "side by side" ?) with standard production pups to hear if those are close sounding to the original . If Not, Custom Wound pups are done .
I'd think resistance and magnets would come into play at that point.
