THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING!
We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and recently moved to a new hosting platform. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
WE HAVE MOVED THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER! Let us know how it is going! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin
Please support our Les Paul Forum Sponsors with your business - Gary's Classic Guitars, Wildwood Guitars, Chicago Music Exchange, Reverb.com, Throbak.com and True Vintage Guitar. From personal experience doing business with all of them, they are first class organizations. Thank you!
I know I've been critical of Joe in the past, but I think he deserves everything life has rewarded him for his hard work. Awesome story. Congrats on the twins Joe.
On a side note, I think he might have recently gotten my favorite color star (fiesta red). At least there is one on the couch behind him in his new video.
At the risk of being one of those "anoraks" that Joe refers to in the article, it was Carl -not Dennis- who played a Jaguar. As a Beach Boys fanatic, I always admired Al Jardine's Strat, but assumed that it was Olympic White, rather than Blonde. I've seen countless photos of it, but none of them were closeup, and clear enough, to see any hint of woodgrain.
For that matter, I would've assumed that the pair in GP were yellowed Olympic White, rather than Blonde, were I not told otherwise. I know that Fender's Blonde finish got progressively more opaque, as the years went on, but I can't perceive any grain.
My failing eyesight aside, that's a pair of dream Strats, for sure, and it's an entertaining tale, well told.
