It's not a tube tumor
That sounds like a really cool idea. I'm going to have to experiment with that. I made a Valvecaster clean boost a few years ago that is excellent for pushing a tube amp on the edge of break up over the top. It uses a 12AU7 but I like running a 12BH7 in mine.
I like all the Stromberg Carlson love. I've got a AU29 that has 6SJ7 octal pentodes in the preamp. It's a cool little amp. Here's a short clip of it with a MIM Telecaster and my Valvecaster pushing it over the top. Excuse the rat's nest wiring in the VC. It was my first attemp and it required a lot of tweaking after the fact that lead to a big mess. It makes it look vintage though right? :rofl I ran the AU29 through a Mass 100 set to load so I could run the line out from the Mass through a few time based pedals and then to a rack mounted power amp to power the cabs. Now I can't wait to build an octal version with a 6SN7 in it. That will be fun, thanks for the tip!
Sounds really cool, where did you get the schematic for it?
As an amp builder, and incessant gear modifier, I have to say...FREAKIN AWESOME!

I don't have a schematic. What I did is went online and got the pinouts on a 12AX7 and a 6SL7 and matched the pinout/wiring and drew out on a piece of paper: Anode to anodeSounds really cool, where did you get the schematic for it?
