1960 Special available locally - Opinions?

There is a 1960 Special available to me locally that is in pretty sad condition. It was painted black, then stripped, now sports the original TV finish. There was a break at the neck which was repaired back around 1990. Tuners, knobs, nut, switch and bridge have all been replaced, as well as a refret. Seller claims the P90's are original. Please see pictures below. Any opinions would be appreciated.

I recently picked up a '58 LP Jr body on the eBay. This is what ~ $1100 got:

Guitar came with frets, nut, 5 tuner bushings/grommets, tail piece inserts and ground wire. Headstock ears were rounded off. Frets, nut, fret board are in fantastic condition. Body in great physical condition but refinished in black. Headstock face that was left intact.

I see it as well. Could be a distortion due to the camera angle or lens but it definitely looks crooked.

A Jr modified into a Special? Sounds like a lot of work to add binding to the fretboard but I guess anything is possible...

I've an original '60 and a refinned,headstock repaired TV with mostly original parts...

original pickups will be black wire...with s/n 03xxx pots likely '59 centras with sprague BB's.

In the end..it comes down to cost/value to you.

In my situation, I paid a little over $1100 for a stripped husk..no breaks and a great neck, fret board and nut that required no repairs...and I did not have to invest in a fret job. Total investment is less than $1700 for 1958 vintage Brazilian rosewood and Honduran Mahogany that plays and sounds great.

I can always invest in a refin and fixing the corners of the headstock ears at some point in future...to make it pretty. For now...it plays great and has that feel and tone.

I call mine a great example of Budget Vintage.

I'm pretty sure that was featured in a MLPF thread where he guy showed the removal of the black (not that has any bearing to the price). I've had a bunch of SC Specials and one '59 DC, and played a few '60s with the relocated front pup and in honesty the SC'a were by far my favourite, so you'd want to see how you get on with it, even if the price is fair, as the neck pup being so far back and close to the bridge pup is not optimal IMO/IME.

Control layout looks exactly the same as my original `59 Cherry Red Special. Man, if you can get that for $1,500. that'd be great! If you get it and decide not to keep it, let me know as I'd take it off your hands.
