• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

All's cool Al. I should have started a Tom Scholz Les Paul Goldtop appreciation thread instead of posting on this one. The overtones of Norlin hate struck a discordant note with me. :2cool

Maybe so, but those Goldtops are VERY important to me. Yours is a beaut, and even if not entirely correct per the OP, it is to my mind one of, if not THE ICONIC NORLIN LES PAUL.

I hope you guys understand that my posts are largely tongue-in-cheek. I have a general disdain for that period but I can assure you I know there are good guitars from that era because I have played some.

I thought it was a great idea for a thread. I own a couple Norlins and am never insulted in the slightest when people say they don't like them.

Steve did have a norlin Custom that he played in Humble Pie after he stopped using the Junior w/Dwight Pickguard. Ive seen pictures of Peter with a white Custom being used for slide.

I'm surprised no one has posted a photo of Don Felder and his Gibson EDS 1275. He used it live in the 70's playing Hotel California. If this guitar isn't an iconic Norlin I don't know what is.:note :note

Randy Rhoads rocking the solo to Crazy Train on a '74 Custom. He could really play.

veeman, I had bad information. You are correct on this. I have amended my post. Speaking of Vs I was going to post a Michael Schenker pic, but learned that his main 70s V was not a Gibson. That was news to me. Do you if that is true?

Michael's main 70's V was a Gibson. He is now using a copy/signature brand.
