• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

...and glued on!

Hopefully, it'll be ready for paint, soon.

It looks like it's ready for paint. I had it drilled for vintage-length studs and anchors and the new anchors have been installed. It may be a while before I have more updates, but they should show the paint.

Some paint pics! I actually got the pics of the back a few days ago, but hadn't posted them. It still needs the amber and coats, as well as some fading, but it's well on its way!

I'm not worried about the security chip -- and had never thought about it. I'm sure that the warranty would be quite voided, now, anyway!

I was having a hard time coming up with a description of the finish that I want (e.g., "A dark-cherry, kind-of Brockburst, but fading to where the red just starts to turn brownish and with the patina of an old finish"). I finally found a pic of what I'm looking for, though, on (of all places) the HM site. This is kind of what I'm going for:

If this guitar belongs to a member living in WA State then I've played it. Unfortunately, I could not convince the fellow that it was really mine & not his

Thanks, guys. I'm anxious to not only see the final color, but to get it back. :)

Cogs, I don't know whose guitar that was; I just found the pic on the HM site.

I just did a search & that's a photo of an R8 belonging to LPF member DitDah & yes, I played it. If I recall, he brought over two Makeovers (an R8 & R9 I think) for a switchtip refit. Both nice guitars but that one stood out.

Cool. I love the color of that one (obviously).

I loved mine as it was, but I'm hoping that it's only better with the makeover.

Nice!I wish my HM R-0 hadn't faded as the dark Burgandy band has lost most of it's reddish hue. It's fading but my HM R-8 hasn't hardly faded. Very strange how one guitar will fade and another doesn't when exposed to the same amount of light.

I think that looks simply amazing. If it looks that good without the finish coats just image how it will pop when it's finished and buffed!!

You did a great job on choosing that color - I think it speaks to all of us!!

I was a straight dirty lemon man for decades but now I'm really digging the bourbon-burst / brock-burst kind of thing. Hell, even the tobacco and dark bursts are beautiful to me now even though I still can't quite get on with the traditional cherry sunburst but the darker ones make me happy!!

You chose WELL!

Thanks. I, too, have grown a bit tired of the plain cherry bursts, although I thought that mine looked pretty good! I'm more into tea bursts, lemon drops, and the bursts with darker reds. I'm hoping that this one fades very nicely over time.

Got some more pics today. It's had the amber and the clear coats sprayed, and it's been buffed. It still has the distressing to go. We're going with fairly light distressing and aging on it -- we're not going all-out relic (not that there's anything wrong with that!).

Here are a few pics of the front:

Here are a couple of shots of the back. The flame on the neck shows pretty well in these. It's one of the things I really like about this guitar
