• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

Ohh err... why is that then? The prestige or the 2 different parts?

Between the two guitars (Aged MK vs. TH R9), the neck profile is the biggest factor. The difference in comfort is not subtle. Those who got the signed MK got a neck that replicates the one on MKs actual guitar. Those who got an Aged or VOS model got a standard R8 neck.

For me, it would have been worth the extra $ to have a neck that equals or betters the TH R9. Optimally, a non-signed TH version would have been my ticket.

That being said, the middle position is fabulous on the MK; beats the TH R9 without question. I'm hearing what I've really liked in great 335s I've had. A beautiful retro voicing with a clarity not had in any Les Paul I've experienced.

No complaints, I got what I paid for.

I've had all three versions in my hands and the neck profile is the same on them all . They were all built to TH specs with the exception of the plastic and pickup covers on the signed model. Some VOS had TH covers as well as TH rings,(mine has them).

where are you getting your neck conclusions from?

if the profile is different across the vos/aged/and signed versions, it would be the first time gibson has done that on an artist run like this.

I've noticed on mine that some of the parts appear to be aged even though mine is a VOS. For example, the poker chip's words are worn and the pickup bracket is somewhat rusty. Is this normal for a VOS? It doesn't really bother me either way, just curious.

That's normal for a VOS

Absolutely untrue.

The Signed and Aged is the only model of the three built to TH specs. Period.

The price differences between the three clearly accounts for this. They are not charging +$4300 Aged vs Signed/ Aged for just a signature. At my shop the Signed and Aged is $11,000. The Aged was $6700.

Just going by what I have seen first hand.

Gibson say on Aged and VOS "Neck double carve Knopfler profile"...thats same as on A&S. I doubt that they would have made different neck for A&S versions

I have read also, the only difference from A&S apart from "magic of Mark" is the pup covers, rings and knobs and wet sand double carve top.. from what I have read
