Wood used in '84 USA Tele?

The body on my '84 USA Tele Toploader has about had it. Thirty years in a cheap gig bag destroyed the finish so a few years ago I removed the poly, sanded it and sprayed it with Amber tinted lacquer. Now it's just too tired looking. I'm looking around for a replacement body but don't know what wood was used for the bodies in '84, just before Fender went to Mexico. I want to keep the neck, toploader bridge and electronics, just replace the body.

Anyone know what was used then?
