• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Any of us who grew up as a baby Boomer had the chance to see and hear phenomenal guitarists, the man with the White Strat did it for me. Yes I'm known for collecting Gold LP'S, but Strats are my first love. I first got a 63 White Strat like Jimmi used in early days, then a few years ago got a 68 white maple capped Strat, this week I found a 69 white rosewood veneer Strat. Yes Jimmi played various others Strats and gibsons, but it has always been a dream to get those Three. I will post pics after I get the guitar and hopefully a Video. Fingers crossed.

Guitar arrived at 9:00, took her for a short spin, definitely has the midrange bite and grind which I would expect from that era pickups. Neck is really wide, but not too chunky. Pretty good darn fret life for original frets. Reminds me of my 64 firebird neck. All toggle positions have really nice options for tone, I kinda like all of them. The guitar will have to sit for a few days and settle before I do any adjustments. Fretboard doesn't have any divots which is nice. Some touch up on the body was done, but love the overall patina it has. Can't wait to do some video's and crank it through an amp. I will pop the hood and make sure everything else other than the changed middle pickup is cool. Pictures don't always show everything. The Trem bar and extra springs are in the case. Its a horrible day out, I will take better pictures when we have better light.

I could tell in those early pics you showed me that the finish mojo was there. With these better pics, it really does look killer. Glad she is all that you expected

Amp not pushed like I did in the others. You can hear I need to do some neck adjusting.

Definitely has more bite than the 63, particularly liked the SRV section of the video. Spot on tone / playing.

I was following this one...beautiful guitar. It is a refin, right?

Actually its been touched up on the wear spots, but most is all original paint. I brought it over to my luthier that has worked on several of my projects and thats what we both came too. :salude

Larry and I put the 2 extra trem springs in and set the guitar up better to my liking. Still will have to adjust the pickups. Sounds much better with better sustain. I now have the bridge flush on the body for more sustain. I had to loosen the outer phillips heads on the bridge as they were too tight.
Little better without the string buzz

HAHAH love the camera falling over at the end. A whole new meaning to "fade to black", looked intentional.
