THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

Better than nothing...

Well, many years ago I swore I would never have a private car registration plate. Without wanting to offend anyone, they're just not my thing......here in the UK people pay out ludicrous sums for the right plate and this got me thinking a few months back especially with "59" registration creeping up on us.

The format had to be:

2 x letters
2 x No.s (hence the "59")
3 x letters

....so.....on 2nd June 2009 at 8.30am I waited eagerly at my keyboard for the DVLA to release the "59" plates and I bagged the plate of my dreams as I'll never be able to afford the guitar of my dreams.....and here it is below:

They may just hang on the gargage wall....:salude

Cheers fellas........

I just got back from the local "Car Bar" with the pair of plates and they're going up in the garage this evening, its were we rehearse so seems much more an appropriate place than on the car, I was thinking above the front and rear of the side door entrance would be quick cool.....thats unless Jimmy Page rings me up and says he wants them, he could have them for a free 1hrs jam, sounds fair to me...!!!!!

....then I could just wake up....

21rush12 - This plate is going to be worth a lot of money one day. To spot the opportunity, and then to execute it , well, Alan Sugar would be impressed.

You make me sound like a contract killer......!!!

I thought about that but I'd be gutted to no longer own it now I've got used to the fact that its mine, not that its going on the car.

Thinking about it on a serious note though, I reckon I'd be happier to give it to a "Celeb Guitarist" in exchange for a lovely big fat donation to a "worthwhile charity" and I in exchange get to have a good ole jam with them for the afternoon, or better still they come down to my local pub on a jam evening and we do a few songs together........

......so Jimmy, Eric, Keith, Billy and the rest of you superstars get yer hands in yer pockets, dig deep, we could find a worthwhile cause for you help, you get a top Reg Plate for your Roller and I get to show you off to freinds....as the old saying goes....."If you don't ask.........":ha

Ha, pretty funny. I think you'll have to buy a brand new car or wait a couple of years to put it on though!

Don't want to piss on your chips but if you don't assign the certificate to a car you lose the plate after (I think) a year.

I currently have mine assigned to a shitty car just to keep it as I'd loose it otherwise.

You pay a retainer of £25/yr to hold onto it, checked and confirmed that one with the DVLA as I'm in no position to buy a new car at the moment. Plus with it being a "59" plate its got to go on 59 or newer, thats the rules.....cheers

Yeh that's what I meant, you need to "renew" your ownership every year or bung it on a car and forget about it.

Apologies - I thought you'd literally bought one and was planning on forgetting about it. Just thought I'd warn you.

Ah.....thanks for the warning 'K', no worries.

I'm warming to the idea of it going on a car now some day, as it'll mean nothing to most people only to fellow players...Mmmm, but then again...!!!!:hmm
