• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Thought it might be cool to start a thread showing amps made with true point to point wiring. It's interesting to see the differences and similarities in wiring styles, not too mention admire the hands on manual labour that went into building things in those days long gone.

Post your amp's guts that are "true" PTP amps. So, (obviously) no PCB, no turret, no eylet, nothing but wire, solder, parts and the occasional mounting strips.

I'll start with an old 1958 Maggy Custom 280

True stereo vibrato (double output transformers and true pitch shifting vibrato)

1961 Capitol Amp - stereo (two ouput transformers) and four 7591 tubes + six 6EU7s, and two Jensen C12R speakers. Might be the only one in the world?

I made one.
A Spitfire built into a copper clad Gulbransen organ amp.

Not as hard as I thought it might be.
Kind of like knitting, I just started at point "A" and kept going.
Was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it is, for noise.

Just hate the thought of trying to service it!

That Magnatone is marvelous...I played one recently and the rectifier sag was great. And of course the stereo vibrato...still for sale here too. Condition was cosmetically poor but everything worked 100%. What are they worth?

Maybe someone with a komet 19 will pop in... as those are most definitely true poin to point.

Wow....some of those...are to be kind....a little sloppy....lol!!!

I know mine is!
:worm

But really no space wasted, HV's are separated in a 3D fashion from signal.
It's a lot quieter than I expected.
It's similar to a Spitfire, a Dowless 18 design.

And that isn't the tightest space I've ever shoehorned an amp into.

Great amp! Love it! Don't think I've ever heard a more beautiful and mind blowing clean tone in any other amp!

YES! Man, I get a headache looking at some of the ones I have! What a rat's nest of wiring!

Nice amps all, and good shots. Just to be picayune.....can anyone name the one amp..the only one...that fits the PTP requirements totally? Not that it matters at all......just curious about true PTP.....the little Supro gets really close, doesn't it? One of the others is actually and fully PTP.
