Is Hawaii Five O.

I grew up with Combat and Vic Morrow, Twelve O'Clock High, Dragnet, Wagon Train and so many others.

But this was my favorite.

The best turn around in the history of television or film.

Jack Lord rocked!

OurManInTheNorth maybe able to confirm this (although he'll claim he wasnt old enough) but I believe a very old weekly news documentary programme called Weekend World in the UK used the final couple of minutes of Nantucket Sleighride by Mountain as there outro.

It took me years to find out what it was.

It's a tie, IMO!

Honorable mention to Hill Street Blues. Man, Mike Post sure knew how to write a great theme song!

Not very hummable, but when Jan Hammer swung into action, you knew you were in for a solid hour of drugs, guns, stubble, and pastel Euro fashion:

Bonus points to the film editor for matching the timing of the drum roll 15 seconds in with the jiggle of the girl walking through the shot.

Bloody hell, that's a belting shout Keith.

Here's another one that's etched in my mind...The World at War - narrated by Laurence Olivier. Same era.

And the one that we all watched...

The Whistle Test....with whispering Bob Harris.

Why "whispering Bob Harris " our American pals may ask, well, his name was Bob Harris and the bugger whispered a lot.

Yup, no question in my mind this is the best. The full length version is awesome (The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra)

They all seem very odd. No one was wearing a mask. Except maybe The Lone Ranger. But he was wearing it improperly. So irresponsible.
