I wonder how much different it is going to be from my 2010 Gibson Les Paul Historic 1959 Reissue Gary Moore Aged Collectors Choice with Gary's signature on the COA (RIP Gary)?

Mike I'm just curious, do you think another Greeny reissue will help your older version increase in value and how much do you think your Greeny has appreciated so far, percent wise in relation to initial investment? Also is there anything in the version you have you would or wouldn't want to see in the next iteration?

Hi, I have no idea of the market value of my guitar or whether it will be helped or hurt by a new version. I'm just grateful that I have one with Gary Moore's signature on the COA. As you probably know, he passed away the year after this guitar run was issued.

Well the $50k will have a braz board. I’m almost positive they’re using Brandonwound pups as opposed to custombuckers. Other than that? Murphy Lab I believe will age them. Idk if TM was involved with the 2010s?

The “VOS” or whatever light aged will come about next yr will just basically be a new guitar without braz I’m sure but hopefully keep the same pups in them. Probably semi aged parts. Curious if the knobs will be as the way Gary switched them or if they all be typical historic knobs?

That bastid threw a pick that hit me on the noggin when I saw him last, could have had me bleedin eye out, if they'd have been open that is.

I picked it up and gave it to a young lad at the side of me, who was writing things down on a bit of paper - perhaps for a school mag or some such. His eyes widened like that wrong un in the Lord of the Rings, and he scuttled off into the crowd before he thought I'd change my mind about giving him such treasure. My Missus thought it was the highlight of the evening, I tend to agree with her.

That G3 thing with Satriani and Fripp.

Bored me to bloody tears. Including Fripp whom I've been following since the 70's and have an enduring preference for.

This is the song I had in my mind, a million miles from being able to create the atmosphere and the touch that Peter had, but in the middle position I was able to satisfy myself completely. The itch was well and truly scratched.

I favour the neck pickups on Les Paul's, and this is where Greeny knocked me out.

My impressions of Greeny would include the descriptors authoritative, a very angry wide sounding guitar, yet capable of incredible subtlety, a beautifully voiced guitar. Having it my hands for a couple of hours easily represents the highlight of 45 plus years of playing. I was completely overwhelmed by this instrument, and was extraordinarily happy to be so.

I appreciate in some quarters that it's not considered cool to be so gushing, but I'm shameless in my love of this guitar.

One last thought is that you never in my book have to consider it not to be cool if your gushing . We speak the same language and for me it's a tremendous resource to have knowledge shared freely about our most favorite passion in life . Making music with Gibson Les Paul's !

If anything perhaps the neck roars just that bit louder than the bridge, but they can both hold their own in a shouting match!!

Wouldn't it be terrific if we could get Kirk to wade in to give his lived experienced impressions of playing this guitar under battle conditions.

I sort of thought the neck was a tad bit louder and had more output . Having Kirk join in and give us his thoughts would be awesome . I think it's so awesome that " Greenie " is getting played and not sitting under glass or in storage .

you hit the nail on the head for me ...

i have a guitar that I'm really enjoying BUT jump between the pickup lower (wide but not angry) and pickup raised (angry authoritative)

One day I had a small combo angled upwards in the corner of a room and as weird as it may sound, you could see/hear the sound how it either filled the wall or didn't, it was eye opening to me how much pickup height made a difference

and once I heard that, i finally knew what it was I was looking for

I was on the same stage as Metallica at Boston Calling. They flew in from England for the one off. Kirk had some amazing guitars in his vault. I’m pretty sure he had the Peter Green guitar at sound check. He def had a few old Les Pauls and that famous Boris Karloff ESP. I was maybe five feet away from it.

Everything went direct into some modelers. There are four Randall cabs on stage but they don’t even have wires going to them. I’ll post a pic later of anyone is interested.

I don’t know a lot about Metallica but liked that documentary they made and also thought the record with Lou Reed was really good, but I’m a big Lou Reed fan.

gary moore might get you 10% of the sales but 90% of the people interested in reallying buying this thing are in it for the Green connection.

I don't know, I like them both, Moore was a beast. He does have a sig guitar, I've always been interested in it.
The one that Gary Played on stage reminds me of a dorito:

For me it's 35% Moore, 65% Green if I were interested in a Greeny reissue.

the idea of greeny is wonderful, but the price point is outa the realm of possibility for most regular plays, chalk this up as another guitar for people to look at but most likely not play all that much.


a good R9 with the pick up flipped will do the job of what ever guitar they attach peters name to. and thats the guy we are all after here, i doubt anyone combing the les paul forum is super excited for a kirk hammet signature les paul. gary moore might get you 10% of the sales but 90% of the people interested in reallying buying this thing are in it for the Green connection.

How so? CC#1 was MSRP of $10k and that was 12 yrs ago
