Selling vintage 4x12 cabinets va selling the individual vintage speakers within them?

I have to raise some money and have a good collection of both desirable vintage 4x12's ('72 Hiwatt SE412 and JCM800 1935 Lead), and the vintage speakers ('72 Fane Purple Label, and OG Celestion G12-65) in them.

From a practicality view point in terms of both shipping costs and speedy sales if you had to choose between selling would you try to sell them as loaded cabinets, or as individual speakers?

If you have had experience in regards to both that woyld.be especially helpful.

Unless you live in a major metropolis where there's a ready market for local sales, you're always going to face challenges selling 4 X 12 cabs because of the shipping issue, IME.

Selling the individual speakers is likely a lot easier because they are more portable (and less expensive), if you take my meaning.

Bonne chance.

If you've got rare cabs in good original condition, keep them that way. Don't be stripping speakers out of rare and collectable gear.

Couriers go by volumetric weight anyway (the dimensions of the box). So taking the speakers out is unlikely to reduce shipping cost on a 4x12, because the volumetric weight will be higher than it's actual weight with speakers in it.

"If your parcel is large in size and light in weight, the delivery price may be calculated by the parcel's volumetric weight rather than its actual weight. This is standard practice in the shipping industry. Parcel weight is rounded up to the nearest half kilo. The greater of the two weights will be used for the parcel delivery cost."

This is the money phrase:

"The greater of the two weights will be used for the parcel delivery cost."

He's asking because he's not planning on shipping a cabinet. The "girth" and weight make the shipping too expensive.

Shipping speakers is affordable in relation to the price of the gear.

I checked Reverb just for grins , 99% of the 4 x12 s are local pickup .. I'd strongly agree with not parting it out , it would ruin the value
