Replacing bridge posts

Dan,

I recently bought a Gotoh Tune-o-matic bridge from Stew-Mac, to replace the ABR-1 on my '61 LP/SG. It fits on the original posts, except that there's much more play since the holes on the Tune-o-matic are larger.

How do I remove the old posts and put in the larger ones without damaging them?

Thanks for your time.

I wouldn't use it . . .

. . . I would use either a real ABR-1 replacement or the TonePros AVR-11 (my preference is the latter).

I wouldn't remove the 6-32 threaded studs and replace them with the 4mm studs that come witht the Gotoh.

The Gotoh bridge is fine, but it is not an exact replacement part.

Dan,

Is the TonePros AVR-11 what I need for my 2002 R8?

I'm looking to replace the ABR and LWTP.

Can you tell me exactly what model I need if I want to replace both parts?

Thank you very much.

Best,

Lee: I like it on my 02 R9. I have made several posts about why. I like the lock, the way it is machined to look right but the screws can't fall out, and because I have more opportunity to shape the saddle height/radius to match the fretboard radius.

Dan, how are you able to "shape" the height / radius on the TonePros model (versus the standard ABR)?

That seems to be very advantageous, right?

Dan,

Thank you. I put the original ABR-1 back on for the time being. I failed to mention that my '61 LP/SG is a reissue if that helps.

Is the Gibson Tune-o-matic an exact fit for their ABR-1?
