Recent Historic Advice Needed

Howdy, after many years of dancing around it I'm finally going to pull the trigger on a historic. I have to go through Musicians Friend since I have a bunch of points to use. I've narrowed it down to a particular R9 ML Ultra Light Aged and an R8 M2M. I have a 50s Standard Goldtop that I love but I need a burst in my life. Any lingering concerns with the ML finishes? Also any experience with the M2M's from MF/GC?

Thanks in advance!

Too bad you can't go into MF and demo them yourself. I live 15 miles from there and made an appointment in January to try before I bought, and I had 11 or 12 to choose from.

Yeah, I wish I could try them in person. Luckily the MF return policy is pretty decent. Im not super sold on the ML finishes in the long term, especially if I'm going to be gigging. It is also hard to find an R9 with a more subtle top, which is why I'm leaning towards the R8.

An update of sorts. Ended pulling the trigger on this today. M2M R8. I prefer fatter necks and the top was hard to turn down. Got a hell of a deal too View attachment 23862View attachment 23863
