• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

My 00 R9 is checking a lot right near the pickup selector. I noticed it a couple of months back. It started just to the left (toward the headstock) of the pickup selector and has spread almost to the binding. There are also a couple lines running the other way north of the pickups. I do switch pickups a lot when I play which, I am sure has stressed that area.

It looks kind of cool. :peep

Is this happenning to anyone else?

I've got some 'real' checking on both my aged '99's. Minnesota winters can be tough on lacquer.

RICH, well you know how it is sometimes you grab that selector and lift the guitar to the left so you can wail high in a more uniform technique.

I forgot to mention I have sunned the top about 8hrs all together.

I understand the nitro finish is very unstable/ I don't mind it kind of adds some character. Matbe I can get a pic of it sometime.

Actually...No, but the top isn't that thick in the switch area. Keep that shit up and you're going to have way more than lacquer checks!:lolspin
