Hello to all,
although I do have this guitar for over a year now, I only recently could be bothered to borrow a cam and take some pictures. And since I never really introduced myself, I thought I post some pictures and also some soundfiles.
It's my first and until now only historic. It was the Historic line that actually got me into Gibson again. I was always more a Les Paul player - and Tele for that matter - but since I've learned to play in the early 80s, those were dark times for some school kid wanting to buy a good Les Paul I gave up on Gibson altogether, playing a PRS for many years. Last year I decided to give those Historics a chance and went to play whatever I could find in the shops here in Germany. At one of those occasions I found this particular guitar. It was one of a batch of 10 the dealer picked at the Gibson factory - at least that was what he said ;-) He said also he'd sold them off so quickly because their tone was superior to the rest of his stock. Mine was also on hold at first, but the guy wanting it couldn't get the money together fast enough and I could have it.
It's an 06 R8 in tea-burst with even a little hint of birdseye. The serial is high which makes it one of the last ones in 2006 I assume. It is a high-gloss version, though you won't see that in the pictures. I play that darned thing on a daily basis and she doesn't really looks shiny anymore
Her name is "Andrea" and this is how she sounds like:
This is the solo in a song I recently wrote and recorded as a demo. Edit: File is working again.
This is a demo I'm working on right now, with Andrea supplying the rhytm-duties.
And this is a little blues in the style of the Stones in the Taylor period.
Nothing special and no guitar-solo, but that's how she sounds clean over a vintage Fender.
And this is a solo on a Ballad I'm working on right now.
This is a solo in a 80s pop-rock song, hence the quirky sound. It was intended
Now I'm eagerly awaiting on my set of Throbaks. Can't wait to try those out in that guitar.
